Artist Jan Rothuizen captured Humade’s research and technical journey from ‘Sea Silt Ceramics’ from sea sludge to circular ceramics.

Humade transformed what seemed impossible into a first proof of concept new bio-based material. The power of making.

We are proud that together with our ‘Sea Silt Ceramics’ consortium - @Humade, @Groningen Seaport, @Deltares and @Koninklijke Tichelaar - we are working on a large scale up valorization of this circular production chain.

‘Sea Silt Ceramics’ is a good example of how collaboration between innovation, industry and science gives high impact answers to societal challenges such as resource scarcity and biodiversity loss. The project can lead to solutions that contribute to sustainability, nature restoration and a circular economy, and play an important role in the ecological recovery of the Eems-Dollard estuary.
